Gokada shuts down to undergo technical rewire

The Lagos based bike hailing startup, Gokada has announced a shut of its services for two weeks. Why Gokada shuts down? That is the question everyone asking.

Announcing the shut down by the Co-CEO, Fahim Sale on its medium post said the Gokada riders will be off the road and the mobile apps will be temporary not accessible for the next two weeks starting from today, Wednesday August 14th, 2019.

The shut down is due to the inability of the bikers to efficiently use the Google Map. Fahem narrated that in his recent in Lagos where he ordered a Gokada ride from Victoria Island just to beat the traffic takes longer than usual.

In view of this glitch, Gokada will undergo technical rewire both in the app and which will also ensure riders and bikers are restrained in customer service, hygiene, driving, navigation use among others.

The Co-CEO also added that the Lagosians should expect brand new bikes and new Bluetooth helmets.

This shutdown may have some negative effect on the company as this may be a blank check for the Gokada’s competitors to garner more strength and gain more traction.
