Gokada pivots to logistics, to launch Chop a food delivery startup

We reported that Gokada, a Lagos based motorcycle-hailing startup sacks most of its workforce and went into cockroach mode.

The report also had it that the motorcycle-hailing startup after the controversial Lagos ban on motorcycles will pivot into logistic business and this was also confirmed by CEO of Gokada.

What may now look like a shock to everyone is to see Gokada becoming a food delivery company by launching a new startup called Chop.

Although not officially announced by Gokada, the service was seen on the streets of Ikeja, Lagos.

What! That is Gokada brand, it is not new to Lagosians.

When reached out to, Fahim Saleh, CEO of Gokoda responded to Techpoint reporter who reached out to him by saying:

“We have not launched the food part of it yet but we’ve launched logistics. Food will follow within a month, ” Saleh says.

This means Gokada has commenced operations on its logistics arm, however, the confusion comes from the branding of the dispatch bag but Saleh says it was done that way because it appeals more to the consumer.

“Chop is the name for our food service but the bags will be used for deliveries as well. Food is more consumer-facing, so we decided that should be the front-facing brand on the bikes,” Saleh says.

Saleh also says that 2,000 Gokada bikes will be activated for both the food delivery service and logistics.

The Gokada new startup, Chop will be a major player in the Lagos food delivery market which Saleh says will be approached in a new way with innovation.

You should also know that Gokada is still active in the Lagos transportation business as its GBoat a boat service in Lagos.
