Meet the CEO, Abbey Wonder fashion designer company that is disrupting fashion design space in Nigeria

Oluwaseun Hephzibah (StackPreneur): Good morning and welcome to StackPreneur Media.

Prince Ezekiel Solomon: Morning and thank you very much, it’s my pleasure.

Oluwaseun Hephzibah (StackPreneur): Sir, I took the time to read your profile on LinkedIn, and got to find out that you have been in the fashion industry for about 18 years. How did you begin?

Prince Ezekiel Solomon: I started learning to tailor when I was in secondary school and that was because my mother was into it. Although I never wanted to be a tailor, I never had a passion for it. Later on, I fell in love with fashion designing when I met a friend of mine and that was because he sewed suits and it was amazing and the one he wore that caught my eye was well made and I inquired of him where he bought it and he said he doesn’t buy suits rather he makes them and that was one of his works.

Oluwaseun Hephzibah (StackPreneur): Whoa! That’s amazing sir. How has the journey been throughout the past years till date?

Prince Ezekiel Solomon: Sincerely, being 18 years now it hasn’t been easy. I met the said young man at Abia State during my National Youth Service. After my training with the young man, and my service year was over, I left for Lagos. Well, one can’t compare the sewing in Abia state with other countries as most times they are out to get things done immediately, not that they aren’t good anyway.

Nonetheless, when I started in Lagos, people complained of how less professional my works were. So, I went to Lagos Island to learn how to sew suits better from Europeans who were around and carried out training.

After, the training I kicked off fully on my own and believe you me I had great challenges like some materials (fabric) we need for making suits sometimes aren’t available in this country and one has to buy from foreign nations and it is quite expensive to order. Also, I did not have enough machines to help speed up the process of production even till date, and this is owing to the fact that some of those machines are quite expensive to acquire (For example, the machine that makes buttonholes on suits).

Also, not enough finance to aid the business. Would love to expand and extend my business to other states and get more workers to assist.

Oluwaseun Hephzibah (StackPreneur): Can we meet you, and What’s your advice for upcoming entrepreneurs?

Prince Ezekiel Solomon: My name is Prince Ezekiel Solomon the CEO Abbey Wonder fashion designer company. My advice to upcoming entrepreneurs is to keep pressing forward no matter the challenges you face. Make sure to accomplish the mission and vision, and seek advice from people who have gone ahead in your area of business.

Oluwaseun Hephzibah (StackPreneur): Thank you, sir, for honoring our invitation. We hope to have you here next time and until then goodbye for now.
