We rent printer and generator daily to start our business- Oluwaseun Ariyibi, co-CEO Oje-Aris

Today on StackPreneur Meet the Eye, we have Oluwaseun Ariyibi co-CEO Oje Aris Solutions Enterprise. He is one of the finest and rugged young CEO in Nigeria.

Oje Aris provides financial services, professional laundry and dry cleaning services and students information management and services.

In this talk, there’s a lot of motivation for big and small businesses to learn from this humble beginning. Enjoy it and learn from it.

WE WANT TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR ENTREPRENEURSHIP JOURNEY. HOW DID IT ALL START?

The whole thing started in my secondary school days. I have the desire to do things that will help me and also aid people around me. I have the mind of giving people what to do by providing jobs for them hence reducing the rate of employment in Nigeria. All these started manifesting in the year 2011 when I got the understanding and a growing knowledge of what entrepreneurship is all about.

I started small but took a great step with a friend (partner) to set up a business. at the time, I didn’t have money but had the idea, zeal, passion and coordination for the business. So my friend dropped money and I acted on the idea and that is how the whole thing started.

RAISING FUND IS ANOTHER ISSUE ENTREPRENEURS FACE. HOW WERE YOU AND YOUR FRIEND ABLE TO SCALE THROUGH BEYOND YOUR PERSONAL CONTRIBUTIONS?

Hmm, this is a serious issue. Raising fund is the major threat for entrepreneurs but as Yoruba adage says “if the fire has not finished in clothes, blood will not finish in nails”. Even my friend that dropped money did not have the whole money that we needed to start with. So we needed to sort part of our starting tools by renting on a daily basis.

Imagine someone that want to start an online registration business and online application services that do not have printer and generator. So, instead of looking for how to get money to buy, we rent and will pay for the rent after each day sales, we ended up getting our new printer and bought that same generator set from that person we rented from. Therefore, Raising fund is thinking out of the box. We overcame the fundraising by not raising fund but raising tool that we need to get the fund needed.

Raising fund is thinking out of the box.

WHAT ARE THE MOTIVATING FACTORS THAT DRIVE YOU TO ACHIEVE MORE AS AN ENTREPRENEUR?

My major drive is a good legacy. I’ve always desired to leave an inheritance for my children’s children. I want them to read, learn about me even in my absence. I also want to contribute to my present generation and generations unborn.

MANY ENTREPRENEURS ARE LOOKING FOR MOTIVATION. WHAT IS YOUR ADVISE TO THEM?

These are my few words. Let everyone learn how to celebrate their little beginning because it will surely take them to places. Be persistent and be focused even if the atmosphere is not friendly, seek and learn more on what you desire to become. God will help us all.
